Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 (5-ounce cans) water-packed tuna , well-drained
  • ½ to cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • ½ cup small diced apple , unpeeled
  • ⅓ cup small diced celery
  • 3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
  • 1 tablespoon freshly-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh dill fronds
  • salt and freshly-ground black pepper , to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the drained tuna and lightly break it up using a fork.
  2. In the same bowl, mix in the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, apple, celery, relish, red onion, lemon juice, and dill. Gently fold everything together until thoroughly combined.
  3. Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning by adding more salt, pepper, lemon juice, or mayonnaise if necessary.
  4. Though it can be served immediately, letting it chill in the fridge for 30-60 minutes enhances the flavors.

Notes

For a creamier texture, adjust mayonnaise according to your preference.
Using fresh dill enhances the flavor, but you can substitute dried dill if fresh is unavailable.
