  • Yield 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons boiling water
  • 4 cups oil for frying
  • 3 tablespoons sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl, whisking together until mixed.
  2. Pour boiling water into the dry mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until fully combined and smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
  3. In a tall pot, heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches 350˚F.
  4. Using a churro maker fitted with a medium star insert, pipe 6-inch churros into the hot oil, cutting the ends with scissors. Fry several at once.
  5. Cook churros in the oil for about 2 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown.
  6. Once fried, transfer churros to a paper towel-lined baking sheet and sprinkle generously with sugar. Repeat with remaining dough.
  7. Arrange all churros on a serving platter and serve warm with chocolate dipping sauce.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough for proper frying to achieve crispiness.
Experiment with different sizes of churros by adjusting the piping length.
