Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups chex cereal (rice chex, corn chex, or a mixture of the two)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup salted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (or more to taste)

Instructions

  1. Measure the Chex cereal into a large bowl and set aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and melted. Stir in vanilla extract if using.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal and stir until evenly coated.
  4. In a large zip-top bag, add 1 cup of powdered sugar. Pour in the coated cereal and add the remaining 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. Seal the bag and shake well until evenly coated.
  5. Spread the Puppy Chow onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, separating any large clumps. Add extra powdered sugar on top if desired.
  6. Let cool to room temperature, then store in airtight containers for up to 10 days at room temperature or 2 weeks in the fridge.

Notes

Ensure the chocolate mixture is fully melted for an even coating.
Feel free to adjust the amount of powdered sugar based on your sweetness preference.
Can be stored in airtight containers or bags for maximum freshness.
