Ingredients
Scale
- 1 whole cut-up chicken or chicken pieces of choice
- 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (1 ounce) packet dry onion soup mix
- 2 cups (16 ounces) sour cream, at room temperature
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- optional garnish: paprika, fresh parsley, lemon wedges or lemon zest
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Arrange the chicken pieces in the prepared baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, sour cream, and lemon juice. Mix until well blended.
- Spread the mixture evenly over the chicken and sprinkle paprika on top, if desired.
- Bake the dish uncovered until the chicken is fully cooked, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F. For bone-in pieces, this will take about 1 hour; for boneless pieces, around 30 to 45 minutes.
- Once cooked, stir the sauce in the dish and serve over buttered noodles, mashed potatoes, rice, or with crusty bread.
Notes
For a creamier texture, allow the sour cream to reach room temperature before mixing.
Garnishes like fresh parsley or lemon zest add a nice touch and bright flavor to the dish.
