Ingredients

Scale
  • 2½ cups warm water
  • ¾ cup honey Delicious Clover Cox’s honey works best
  • 1½ tablespoons yeast
  • ⅓ cup butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Grease two 9×5-inch loaf pans with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a stand mixer bowl with a dough hook, mix warm water, honey, and yeast. Allow to sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add melted butter, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix to combine and let the dough rest for 5 minutes.
  4. With the mixer on low, incorporate remaining flour 1 cup at a time until the dough pulls from the bowl sides. It should be soft and slightly tacky.
  5. Grease hands with cooking spray, remove the dough, and knead on a floured surface for 5-6 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Divide into 2 pieces and shape each into a loaf. Place in prepared pans. Optionally, roll and tuck for smooth tops.
  7. Cover with a towel and let rise for 1½ hours or until doubled in size.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and internal temperatures reach 190–195°F.
  9. Brush tops with butter after baking for a softer crust.
  10. Cool in pans for 5–10 minutes, then remove and cool on a wire rack.

Notes

Ensure the water is warm but not hot to preserve the yeast’s effectiveness.
Monitor flour addition; too much can make the bread dry and dense.
For best texture, allow the dough to rise until it has visibly doubled.
