Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 stick salted butter, melted and hot to the touch
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chunks
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and line an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together hot melted butter, canola oil, and both sugars until well combined for about a minute.
- Add in eggs and vanilla extract, whisking for an additional 2 minutes.
- Gently combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until a batter forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chunks and transfer the batter to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 22 to 26 minutes, checking for doneness; for gooey brownies, remove at 22 or 23 minutes.
- Allow the brownies to cool for at least 1 hour before cutting into squares and serving at room temperature or warm with ice cream.
Notes
Letting the brownies cool will help them set better before cutting.
Brown sugar can be adjusted according to your taste preference for sweetness.
For a gourmet touch, sprinkle with sea salt before baking.
