Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups bread flour
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a stand mixer bowl fitted with a dough hook, combine warm water, yeast, sugar, salt, and 1 cup of all-purpose flour.
- Add the remaining all-purpose flour and bread flour, mixing until combined. Knead for 3-4 minutes, ensuring the dough is slightly sticky, then let it rest in the bowl for 10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil and spray lightly with cooking spray.
- On a greased countertop, pat the dough into a rectangle measuring about 16 inches by 7 inches. Cut into 1-inch strips using a pizza cutter, twist each strip, and place on the baking sheet with ½ inch spacing. Cover with a tea towel and let rise for 20-30 minutes.
- Prepare the topping by combining the melted butter, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, parsley, oregano, and salt. After the dough has risen, brush the breadsticks with half of the butter mixture.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until the breadsticks are golden brown. Once out of the oven, brush with the remaining butter mixture and serve warm.
Notes
For a crispy texture, make sure to let the dough rest adequately before baking.
These breadsticks pair perfectly with marinara sauce or your favorite dip.
Feel free to experiment with different herbs and spices in the butter topping.
