  • 5½ cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3½ tablespoons all purpose flour
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • ⅓ cup butter, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1¼ cups rolled oats
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375˚F and prepare a 2-quart baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the blueberries with flour, sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest until coated, then pour them into the baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar, then mash with a fork. Stir in oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg until crumbly.
  4. Spread the topping over the blueberries in the baking dish.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the top is golden and the blueberries are bubbly.
  6. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Feel free to use a mix of fresh and frozen blueberries based on availability.
For added flavor, consider including a pinch of salt in the crumble topping.
