Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
  • 1 tablespoon softened butter or mayo
  • 2-3 slices cheese (sharp cheddar, american, provolone, swiss, gouda, or a combo)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. Place one slice in front of you, butter-side down. Layer the cheese evenly on top, keeping it slightly away from the edges.
  3. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up. Gently press the sandwich together and insert a toothpick straight down through the center to secure it.
  4. Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry at 370°F for 4–5 minutes. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3–4 minutes, until both sides are deeply golden brown.
  5. Remove from the air fryer. Take out the toothpick, slice, serve and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, try mixing different types of cheese.
Make sure the butter covers the bread well for a perfectly crisp result.
Keep an eye on the cooking time; variations in bread thickness may affect it.
